The Senior Defined Benefit Calculation Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of tasks required to provide participants with the value of their pension benefit, ensure timely and accurate payment of the participants pension benefit, supporting other parts of the organization with respect to providing answers to participants pension related questions and any necessary systems testing related to the pension plans to which they are assigned. The position requires three to five years of benefits/Pension experience and requires supporting/training Junior Analysts with questions and processes. Specific tasks are outlined below:
Perform and QA manual pension calculations for Intent to retire packages, Estimates, MRD’s, Batch Terminations, Disability Calculations, QDRO Calculations, FICA Calculations
Calculations include determination/confirmation of eligibility for benefit, early reduction factors, optional forms of payment, etc.
Process Death and Survivor calculations for Beneficiary Support Team
QA of automated system generated calculations and fulfillment
Address all types of participant escalations
Review and understand Business Requirements and Specifications documents to successfully complete work task
Testing (Pre & Post) for monthly production moves (including regression batches)
Create manual fulfillment when needed using an Excel tool and Word Merge
Escalations – internal and/or from client
Manage, train & QA Junior Calc analysts on above tasks
Contribute to internal team meetings, as well as weekly/ad-hoc client status meetings
EDUCATION AND TYPICAL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
3- 5years experience in plan administration and/or consulting. Professional certification in HR area(s) of specialization preferred but not required.
Knowledge of legislative issues affecting Defined Benefit plans.
Proven analytical ability and problem solving skills, as well as a strong attention to detail
Exposure to Windows environment and Microsoft Office
Strong Excel knowledge; SQL skills a plus
